Chadwick Studio was asked to design a solution for Knoll to satisfy the mass stacker genre, a historically lucrative market that addresses institutional, educational and corporate needs. Our research showed this was an overly saturated market. David Rowland’s 40/4 chair had been knocked off so many times in so many ways that we decided there were opportunities that existed outside the project brief.
Create a chair that was indoor / outdoor, one that would work in everything from residential to contract, patios to cafes, temporary lecture spaces to collaborative workspaces. The result was a one piece injection molded chair and lounge called Spark.
Project done at Chadwick Studio with Don Chadwick.
